Time Waster #1: StumbleUpon

Alright so I think this will be a series featured on this blog. We'll see where it goes.

StumbleUpon

This one is pretty well known, I mean it has 9,035,099 members! If nothing else in this post interests you then that alone should get you to at least to take a look at it. The main point of this website is to bring you websites that are related to your interests and likes. It beats just typing in some keywords into Google and hoping to come across some internet gem. I don't know if it's just my laziness but I love just clicking one button that delivers me websites that I will like.


Alright so after you sign up, (like I know you're planning on doing) they provide you with over 500 topics I believe that you can select from. Once you do that, just install the StumbleUpon add-on for Mozilla Firefox (the browser you should be using) and Stumble to your heart's content.


StumbleUpon has a rating system that allows you to thumb-up a site so you see more content that is similar to the site you just visited. There is also a thumb-down option in case you completely hate the content on a site, it's spam, or it is a duplicate page of something you have already stumbled. Thumbing down makes sure you don't see pages like the one you disliked. You can also write reviews for anything you think deserves one, whether it be because you liked it or disliked it. All of the pages you favorite appear on your homepage of StumbleUpon.com in either a grid or list view.

An introduction perhaps?

So most blogs start off with an intro, right? Just some small blurb about the background of the author and what the author plans to blog about. Right. Well I'll go along with that, but this is the only time I'm going to stick to what people are used to. This blog will be taking ingredients from a few types of blogs. There may be some reviews, some personal thoughts and opinions, and anything else random that I may believe to be entertaining. Enough about the blog for now.

So my name is Dominique but I generally go by Dom or any deviation of dominique that you can come up with. I'm an 18 year old guy living in Tennessee. I attend a local college and I may transfer to the university of Tennessee at Knoxville. I doubt it's going to happen now because I have a wonderful girlfriend named Samantha and I don't want to leave her behind. 

Um I'm pretty sure that's all you need to know or at least all you care to know. This blog is named Sometimes My Mind Wanders because it's true. It also correlates to the content of this blog because I don't plan on sticking to any one idea. I'll talk about whatever interests me at the time. Which can be just about anything.
